It’s official – load shedding is back

Get your candles ready for load shedding to begin at 9pm

BEFORE unreservedly apologising to South Africans at large, Eskom confirmed it would implement stage 2 load shedding tonight (Thursday).

It will be in effect from 9pm tonight to 6am tomorrow.

System constraints and depleting emergency resources have forced the embattled power utility to once again subject the country to organised blackouts after a few weeks’ grace.

Eskom said it has been using its pumped storage schemes and open cycle gas turbines extensively these past few days in order to supplement capacity, and they need to be replenished overnight.

There is a possibility of load shedding tomorrow and into the weekend.

Keep track of your load shedding schedule by checking the City of uMhlathuze or Eskom websites.
