No time estimation for power restoration to parts of northern KZN

Eskom experiences outages on the Impala, Nseleni and Mtubatuba 132kV line

ESKOM has confirmed that the interruption of power supply in KwaMbonambi, Mtubatuba, St Lucia and Hluhluwe today (Monday) was caused by storm activity.

The outage is required to repair a tower that collapsed on the Nsleni-Mtubatuba line close to the KwaMbonambi substation.

‘We are busy rigging a bypass line where the tower collapsed and the expected time of completion would be provided later this afternoon.

‘In the interim, we are restoring supply in different blocks where possible, and in other cases customers will remain off for the duration of the fault,’ said Acting Communication and Stakeholder Relations Manager (KZN Operating Unit), Lenny Babulall.

Eskom has apologised for the inconvenience caused and urges affected customers to switch off all electrical appliances and to treat all installations as live until power is restored.

Customers are also advised not to approach any low hanging conductors or cables on the ground.

These should be reported immediately to the Eskom Customer Contact Centre on the Sharecall No 08600 37566.
