Blitzbokke victory gives hope

Neil Powell's men back on track in HSBC World Sevens Series

THE Blitzbokke’s triumph in Vancouver over the weekend resulted in the team moving up from fifth to fourth place on the overall rankings and reduced the points gap between them and current leaders USA by 24 points.

With four legs of the HSBC World Sevens Series remaining, Neil Powell and his men now have a slight glimmer of hope to still successfully defend their title if they can retain the same levels of intensity and determination they displayed in Vancouver.

The USA currently sits on 113 points, New Zealand on 106, Fiji on 101 and South Africa on 89.

The next stop is Hong Kong (5-7 April), which allows for the recovery of key injured players, as well as time to work on a winning strategy to bag some much needed points.
