FATHER Christmas has a very busy schedule – and he get’s hungry. Very hungry.
With thousands of houses across the globe to visit on Christmas day, he needs all the energy he can get to deliver gifts to all the children who had been good.
Luckily, kind children across the world leave him a snack on Christmas Eve.
While the food offered may change, the generosity and faith in a magical, kind being is consistent everywhere around the world.
What do children around the world leave for Father Christmas – we like to call him FC – under the Christmas tree when he comes to deliver presents?
In France, children leave carrots for his reindeer and biscuits for the man himself.
They leave these presents in their shoes and in return, FC fills them with toys and sweets.
In the United Kingdom, the children leave a pie filled with dried fruit and sometimes some sherry on a cold night.
In Germany, the children leave letters for him and when they wake up, they find that their letters are gone and the presents they requested waiting for them.
That means that he’s real, right?
The children of the Netherlands leave hay, carrots and water for his reindeer.
In return, they’re left hot chocolate, oranges, marzipan and chocolate coins.
In Australia it’s hot – and a cold beer awaits the exhausted FC, while in chilly Sweden children leave a hot cup of coffee to keep him warm as he travels around the world.
