Call for peaceful behaviour at KZN concerts

KZN MEC for the Department of Arts and Culture, Bongiwe Sithole-Moloi says artist must remain role models

THE KZN Department of Arts and Culture has called for non-violence and unity in the entertainment sector, especially during the festive season.

This after Maskandi giant Phuzukemisi Mnyandu was allegedly involved in a physical altercation with one of his band members, which resulted in gunshots being fired.

‘The incident is deeply regrettable. We believe it could have been handled in an amicable manner.

‘Artists remain role models to a large portion of society and should always try to consider the repercussions before acting.

‘We wish both artists a speedy recovery and trust that justice will be served in this matter,’ said KZN MEC for the Department of Arts and Culture, Bongiwe Sithole-Moloi.

‘The department recently unveiled its festive programme, which includes among other things izingoma and festivals which will take place in various parts of the province.

‘We encourage artists as well as communities at large to maintain peace during these events, and not taint what is meant to be a joyful period,’ she said.
