No vehicles allowed on Naval Island this weekend

No vehicles will be able to enter the Tuzi Gazi Waterfront area via the steel bridge

If you plan on visiting Naval Island or the Tuzi Gazi Waterfront this weekend, please note that the area will be cordoned off for the Richards Bay Port Festival.

Naval Island as well as parts of the small craft harbour will be inaccessible to vehicles.

Festival-goers will be able to park their vehicles at the designated parking area, the open field near Tuzi Gazi Waterfront.

Buses will then ferry them to either Naval Island or the small craft harbour, where the festival is held.

There will be two access points for pedestrians – at Cubana and just before the old action cricket hall.

Please note that no vehicles will be able to enter the area via the steel bridge.

A one-way traffic system will be enforced during the weekend.

Vehicles will only be able to enter the area via the new Industrial Development Zone road, and exit via the steel bridge.

The steel bridge will not function as the usual stop-and-go, two-way road, but will be a one-way road for the duration of the festival.

According to the TNPA, signage on the John Ross parkway will remind motorists of this temporary measure.
