Missing eSikhaleni boy found and returned home

He was found in Richards Bay yesterday

THE father of an eSikhaleni boy who went missing on Tuesday, has praised the community for assisting in the safe return of his son.

Thirteen-year-old Wenzile Mlambo was found in a shelter near Richardia Primary School in Richards Bay yesterday by a group of six young boys, who then contacted the father, Ben Mlambo (53).

‘I contacted a lady from Richards Bay who had been involved in the search for Wenzile and she picked him up.

‘He is fine but I will take him to a psychologist later today because we don’t quite understand what had happened during the time he went missing,’ the father said.

‘He started explaining but then just broke down into tears. We will eventually determine what happened.’

Mlambo said while he was completely overwhelmed by the support he received from the Richards Bay community, the same could not be said for the eSikhaleni police.

‘When I went to close the missing person’s case, I found the docket in the exact same position and place where it was left when we left on Tuesday night.

‘This indicates that the police did not even open the docket or make an attempt to help search for my boy.’

Mlambo said the eSikhaleni Station Commander was unaware of the case, but has agreed to set up a meeting with him so they could discuss his grievances later today.
