With South Africa’s unemployment rate sitting at 26.7% this year, why not scan what jobs are currently in high demand and obtain the necessary qualifications to get employed and start earning some big greens?

Listed below are jobs that are currently the most sought after in the country.

According to a jobs portal completed by CareerJunction finance, the ICT and manufacturing sectors saw an uptake in jobs of between 4% to 6%, with the construction, engineering and medical sectors decreasing in vacancies since the third quarter of 2017.

Current trending jobs include admin clerks, IT project administrators/managers and systems/network administrators.

The three most in demand skills needed in the country at the moment are software developers, middle/department managers and representatives or sales consultants.

Software development remains the most sought after skill, with a hiring activity increase of 35% year-on-year.

The demand for sales representatives remains great in the South African job market, despite a cooling off in the hiring zone owing to high levels of demand last year.

Financial managers have great employment prospects within the field of middle/department management as currently every third managerial job post is allocated to financial managers.
