WHEN, young Malwande Deyi (11) walked out of his Harding home to walk the fields and corral his family’s livestock last month, nobody had any idea of the horror the day would bring.
He never returned home, and a search that involved the entire community would lead them to a brutal murder scene.
His body was found that afternoon on the banks of the Mthavuna river.
He had been bludgeoned violently, and a piece of his skull was missing.
Police immediately began investigating and swiftly arrested Nkosivumile Sincuba (32), who led them to the place near the river where he had hidden the missing piece of the boy’s skull.
He appeared in the Pietermaritzburg High Court and was today (Thursday) sentenced to life in prison.
