TO ensure the safety of children on the road, the Road Accident Fund team handed over car seats to mothers of
newborn babies at Queen Nandi Regional Hospital in Empangeni on Monday.
The purpose was to promote safety of children and lessen fatalities among young children in car crashes.
Mothers were advised on how to protect their children while travelling and provided with information on how to submit claims after accidents.
‘Children are not allowed to be transported in the front seat. During accidents they can suffer major injuries if not
properly secured.
‘We need to talk to other mothers and put our children and their safety first,’ said road safety specialist Agnes Mahlangu.
Community members were also given the opportunity to ask questions regarding their claims.
