Tyre thieves strike again in Brackenham

Criminals target two houses in Brackenham

TWO homeowners in Drynaria Dune street in Brackenham suffered a major blow last week after their vehicles’ tyres and rims were stolen and their dogs poisoned during the thefts.

The problem of tyre theft flared up in Brackenham last year, but subsided this year until last week’s incidents.

According to resident Kuibe Moodley the suspects at his premises were disturbed by his tenant at about 4am on Tuesday morning, but they managed to get away with two of his vehicle’s tyres and rims.

‘I heard my dogs barking at about 3.30am and when I checked the car all the wheels were still on, but about 30 minutes later two were missing.

‘Even with lock nuts in place they managed to remove three tyres, but only escaped with two into the nearby greenbelt.

‘The greenbelt is a major problem and other residents in the vicinity have also been targeted in the past.

‘We are really saddened by the death of our pet German Shepherd and criminals are taking it too far by killing our animals,’ said Moodley.

Jessee Naicker also voiced his frustration over the theft of four tyres and the death of his dog.

‘Our property can always be replaced, but our pet was part of our family and we will never be able to replace him,’ said Naicker.
