Furious residents blockade R102

SCORES of Mandeni residents blockaded the R102 with burning tyres and logs on Wednesday morning.

The N2 link road near the toll plaza was completely blocked in the early morning.

Mandeni SAPS police station commander, Colonel Zulu said protesters were not aggressive.
‘When we arrived, we told them to move off the road and they obeyed our command.
‘No rubber bullets were fired to disperse them and no arrests were made. Traffic is flowing smoothly and there only a few people who are still standing on the roadside,’ said Zulu.
