THE north coast was the fishing hot spot for game fish action and anglers have enjoyed great success in the Cape Vidal, Sodwana Bay and further north areas.

Trolled dead baits have worked particularly well for the paddle ski fishermen, while most of the catches for the ski boaters have been on trolled plastics.
The rock and surf scene was flooded with two species and anglers along the coast nabbed shad ranging from two to six kilograms, while others landed diamonds of between 20 and 100kgs.
Hlobane and Mtunzini wading banks are also two of the spots to test your fishing skills on the north coast.
Placing a large fleshy bait on your hook in these areas, after a few days of north east wind, will almost guarantee you a pull.
The central KZN coastline has seen a flood of tourists and visitors from upcountry but was not too friendly to the fishermen.
The stumpies have been hooked on fresh sealice bait while the shad have gone for their usual sardine or Japanese mac.
For a change of pace, try a mixture of a peeled sealice with some pink prawn or chokka; this is a deadly bait for almost any edible species along with working well for the flatfish.
Fishing at Jozini Dam proceeds to get better as more anglers report good size tigers being caught, and the fish reeled in are ranging from 800g to 2.5kg.
