Richards Bay FC look for speedy success

Richards Bay FC want to kick off with three points

THE second half of the National First Division soccer season gets underway this weekend, with Richards Bay FC away to Uthongathi FC on Saturday.

The KZN near neighbours shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the uMhlathuze Stadium in the first round and this is a must win game for the NRB side.

They ended the first half of the campaign well with a solid win over Black Leopards before the break, and will be looking for another three points in their first objective – getting well clear of the relegation zone.

The Bay Boyz have accumulated just 13 points from 15 games to date and only two points have accrued on the road.

Their opponents have done marginally better, but both sides are among the worst in terms of goal scoring, each having only bagged 10 goals.

Back at training this week after the festive season break, NRB head coach Jean Losciuto clearly focused on improving the energy levels of his charges.

‘Pace, power and precision’ were the key words in his strategy as he demanded the squad thought and reacted more quickly to the match situation.

The players looked full of running and none the worse for the break and they look ready to bring home the three points on Saturday.
