Two fishermen rescued from Port of Richards Bay

They were fishing when their dinghy capsized

TWO fishermen – an adult and a child – were yesterday (Saturday) rescued after their dinghy capsized in the Port of Richards Bay.

The incident occurred just before 11.30am.

The fishermen were reportedly fishing from the dinghy when it capsized.

After receiving reports of the capsize, Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) alerted NSRI duty crew who launched Spirit of Round Table II.

Crewmen aboard TNPA’s tug boat Idalazi pulled the two casualties out of the water and they were transferred to the NSRI rescue craft and returned to shore.

The TNPA pilot boat Jojosi recovered the dinghy.

The two fishermen were uninjured and no further treatment was necessary.
