Newborn found at Mtubatuba dumpsite

The incident is being investigated by Mtubatuba SAPS

THE body of a newborn baby, wrapped in a plastic rubbish bag and stuffed into a bucket, was yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon discovered by workers at Nordale landfill site in Mtubatuba.

The gruesome discovery was made at about 1pm by the dumpsite workers as they were going through a load brought in by a dump truck.

Horrified, they immediately contacted the police and Ward Councillor, Ndumiso Zuma.

‘My blood is boiling, this is such a terrible thing for someone to do, yet it is so common these days,’ he said.

‘Why, when there are people out there spending hundreds of thousands trying to have children, would someone choose to kill their newborn baby?

‘As leaders, we are calling for a stop to this inhumane behaviour.’

Police officers from Mtubatuba SAPS attended the scene and forensics investigators removed the body for investigation.
