Twelve police officers dismissed for corruption at northern KZN border posts

TWELVE police officers working at the Kosi Bay and Golela border posts have been dismissed.
This follows an internal investigation into corrupt activities at the borders in Northern KZN.
They were arrested earlier this year for corruption and were charged criminally and internally.
The arrests came after an operation coordinated by the Office of the Acting National Commissioner and Acting Provincial Commissioner of KwaZulu-Natal to deal with corrupt activities raised by the community of uMkhanyakude during President Jacob Zuma’s visit to the area earlier this year.
The operation yielded positive results as a number of arrests were made and stolen vehicles recovered.
‘We want to reassure the public that we remain committed to dealing with corrupt police officers in a decisive manner,’ KZN Acting Provincial Commissioner Major General Bheki Langa said.
