Where hippos roam the streets
St Lucia is a holidaymakers’ paradise. Known for its largely unspoiled natural beauty, the town is situated on the outskirts of the wondrous iSimangaliso Wetland Park. It is a proclaimed Unesco World Heritage Site that includes a mosaic of wetlands, lakes, forests, sandy beaches, coastal dunes and submarine canyons. Here you have a chance of seeing anything from bush babies and leopards to crocodiles, leatherback and loggerhead turtles and humpback whales. St Lucia is one of the few towns where you’ll find hippos wandering the streets at night. It is a laid-back holiday town that offers plenty to do, interesting tourist facilities and numerous great restaurants.
