Nkandla demands road relief

Nkandla Municipality is still awaiting response from the Department of Transport regarding complaints about the poor state of roads in the area

THE Nkandla Municipality is still awaiting response from the Department of Transport regarding complaints about the poor state of roads in the area.
Mayor Thami Ntuli said a letter was submitted to the department, requesting a meeting to address motorists’ complaints about potholes which damage their cars on the roads to Khombe, Nquthu and Melmoth.
Ntuli said the municipality was only responsible for access roads in and around the town and not the main routes under jurisdiction of the provincial department.
The community is also regarding the old Mhlathuze bridge as unsafe. The mayor said the negative impact the poor road networks had on the local economy and services delivery required urgent attention.
