Positive vibes in the NRB camp

Richards Bay FC poised to strike

RICHARDS Bay FC head coach Roger Sikhakhane knows what it is to have a winning team.

After all, he took Thanda to the top of the National First Division last season and in the process the Amabhubesi set new benchmarks for points scored.

Roger is now at the helm of the newly-formed Natal Rich Boyz and although they are still seeking their first win after four matches, he believes it’s only a matter of time before his charges show just how good they are.

That moment could be this Sunday, when they take on TTM FC at the uMhlathuze Stadium at 3pm.

Two draws (0-0 and 1-1) and two 1-0 losses don’t tell the story of just how well the NRB squad has played – and how little Lady Luck has been on their side.

Last Sunday was a good example, as they conceded an own goal after just five minutes away to Jomo Cosmos.

They dominated the match after that, despite losing a player to a red card in the second stanza and should have come home with three points rather than the 1-0 loss.

‘We had a bit of a slow start, not being used to their huge field but that’s in the past,’ Roger said at Tuesday’s training session.

‘Once that first win is under our belt and the confidence flows there will be no stopping us.

‘We have the team to take the league and we will prove it looking ahead. As it is, we have only conceded three goals so the defence is nice and tight. We now need to find the back of the net.

‘League positions mean very little at the moment. We are just six points below the team in number one spot and no side is on any great run of form.’

Roger is hoping for a big home crowd to urge the boys on to their first victory on Sunday.
