Severe weather for Richards Bay and KZN’s east coast
Stronger winds are expected to move northwards, affecting Richards Bay
AN intense frontal system is taking KZN’s coast by storm, after hitting Margate earlier this evening (Saturday), and expected to make its way to Richards Bay.
Images of uprooted trees, and roofs blown off buildings have been posted on social media, with damage having occurred as far inland as Pietermaritzburg.
According to Storm Report SA, wind speeds of 61km/h, gusting 88km/h, were recorded in Durban at about 6.20pm.
The system is expected to travel northwards relatively quickly, and Zululand east-coasters are urged to be vigilant.
According to one social media user, part of the roof on a school in Salt Rock had blown off.
