Umfolozi Casino Resort fire drill ticks all the right boxes

The planned fire drill was carried out as if it was the real thing

A PLANNED fire drill evacuation was conducted at the Umfolozi Casino Resort on Monday morning.

The drill formed part of the casino’s health and safety procedures to ensure that proper measures are followed during a real life crisis.

Head of the casino’s security, Jean de Klerk, oversaw the operation, which simulated three injuries and had a total of 105 people evacuated.

uMhlathuze Fire and Rescue Services were quick to arrive at the scene to deal with the reported ‘fire

Positive feedback was received from Disaster Management officials present at the drill.

It took six minutes for the evacuation to be completed, significantly improving on the previous evacuation time of 11 minutes.

Mounties Ambulance Service paramedics assisted three patients with simulated injuries

The drill was sponsored by Pro Dive Med Training who specialise in mock drills and training.

Mounties Ambulance Service assisted with the drill and it took six minutes for them to arrive on the scene, while the uMhlathuze Fire Department recorded an eight minute response time.
