CONSISTENCY was the name of Richards Bay Country Club’s game over the weekend, enabling the side to claim the 6th annual Rider Cup trophy.

The team, captained by Steven Rivett, beat Empangeni 12½ to 7½, which means that the two clubs now share the spoils with three victories each since the start of the competition.

Ross Urquhart and his Empangeni squad rocked up at the Richards Bay Country Club on Thursday to take on the hosts in a 4 Ball Better Ball Stableford shoot-out.

Rivett and the boys utilised their home-ground advantage, winning the day 3-1 and taking a two points lead into the second day.

Day two was contested at the Empangeni Country Club and saw competitors play foursomes in the morning and a 4 Ball Better Ball Stableford format in the afternoon.

Exchanges remained tight in both formats, ending in 2-all draws, but enabling the Bay to take their two point lead into the final day’s singles format on their home turf.

Empangeni could not narrow the gap, going down 2½-5½.
