The All-New Navara , Rugged Redefined

The new Navara is a stunning vehicle - there’s no doubt about it. It turns heads wherever it goes.

Luxurious but tough

Inside, the new Navara feels more like an SUV than a bakkie with many luxury features and plenty of space.

With the driver’s seat back all the way there is still about 25cm of knee room for the passenger behind him and that’s a lot in any car.

The driver’s seat adjusts electrically and is just the beginning of the luxury experience when hopping inside the Navara.

Start-up happens via a push button on the left hand side of the steering and the decent sized infotainment screen comes with all to keep you happy including SATNAV, and in reverse what’s behind you is reflected on the screen.

Backseat passengers have their own air-con vents and the little sliding window behind their heads can also be opened and closed electrically like those on the sides.

Smooth power

The Navara has a very smooth drive.

There’s no sudden power surge when the turbo kicks in, as with other turbo-diesel bakkies.

This is because Nissan went with a bi-turbo set-up.

Apart from blowing more power into the relatively small engine, the two turbos work at different rev ranges; the smaller spinner coming into play much earlier than the bigger one, and the latter jumping into action when you put your foot down.

They basically overlap so as to create a torque curve which rises very evenly.

The 140kW and 450Nm from the 2.3-litre engine is more than enough and the seven-speed auto does well to manage gearshifts.

Leaf vs coil springs

The Navara of course has a five-link rear suspension with its coil springs in the rear.

Does it ride softer than a leaf spring suspension?

Well, it’s almost a case of six of the one and half a dozen of the other.

The Navara is one of the most comfortable bakkies, but still not as soft as an SUV because for it to be able to carry a payload it cannot be made too soft.

With a class leading 150 000km warranty and three-year/90 000km service plan, you can rest assure that Nissan has you and your new Navara covered for the long run.
