IN an effort to address the shortage of resources in schools, Wildlands, together with a team of South32 employees visited the Ngwelezana-based Ingweni Primary School to hand over 60 ‘green desks to be used by learners’.

Speaking at a volunteer day, Louise Duys of Widlands said the desks were made of previously unrecycled plastic and multi-layer materials.

The desks have been exchanged with Ingweni Primary School for 2 240kg of recycled materials collected by the school learners in 2016.

Welcoming the donation, school Principal Julie Mdluli praised the public-private partnership of Wildlands and South32, and pleaded with them to continue supporting needy schools.

‘These desks we receive today will go a long way in addressing some of the challenges we have in our school. ‘We plead with other private companies to come on board and lend a helping hand in fulfilling our mission of providing equitable access to quality education.

‘We strive to develop learners who will be exemplary and productive to society,’ she said.
