First loss for Zululand golf side

Zululand golf team suffer first loss

THE Zululand golf team, captained by Richard Allan, suffered their first loss in the KZN Golf Union League after going down 4-8 to Amanzimtoti at the Amanzimtoti Country Club on Sunday.

The local side, who beat uMhlali A and Victoria in the first two rounds at Empangeni Country Club, struggled in the afternoon singles competition, which cost them the match.

Zululand and Toti were tied at 2-2 after the morning’s foursomes after Rob Seiler, Graeme Johnson, Richard Allan, Phillip Barnes, Walter Leibrandt, Jarred Good, Jason Winterboer and Jandri Krafft produced some solid golf.

Unfortunately that’s were it ended for the local lads, with the home side taking the afternoon singles 6-2 to snatch the overall victory.

Zululand will play Princes Grant in their last game at Princes Grant on Sunday, 21 May.

‘This is a must win for us if we want to snatch the title this year,’ said Seiler.
