Get ready to blast the Big 5 MTB Series

Oil those gears, Big 5 awaits

THE 2017 Bell Big 5 Mountain Bike Series gets underway in about two months and mountain bike enthusiasts of all skills levels are urged to dust off their steeds and make sure they are fit and ready come race day.

This is the fourth consecutive year that Bell Equipment is the title sponsor and Bell Group Chief Executive, Gary Bell, a keen cyclist himself, says the company is proud to continue its association with the race series for a number of reasons.

‘Mountain biking is a great sport that has an enormous following among our community, our employees, our customers and our suppliers, making the Bell Big 5 a great way to support and give back to all our local stakeholders.

‘We are also a company with a strong sense of family, so it’s important to us that the Bell Big 5 is an event for everyone.

‘We would like to encourage maximum community participation because apart from getting people outdoors and increasing their fitness levels, each event also raises funds for a community or environmental project that will positively impact on people’s lives.’

Different challenges

Cyclists are assured of five varied courses in which every family member will find a distance in which they can compete.

As in previous years, each event will have 10km, 25km and 50km routes, and it is not unusual to have up to 1 000 cyclists turn out to enjoy the race day camaraderie.

Cyclists accumulate points by participating in all the races and the Series prize giving will follow the Monzi Hippo Race.

Riders who pre-enter the Challenge (all five races), only pay for four races and will receive a long-sleeved moisture-controlled Challenge shirt, as well as being guaranteed an event T-shirt at each race.

Family discounts are available for bulk entries of three or more riders per family.

Entries are now open on ROAG.

More information and pre-entry forms are available on the race website www.big5mtb.co.za.
