Successful rugby tour for Grantham Park Primary School

Grantham Park Primary School (GPPS) first boys rugby team returned from a pre-season tour with a 50% winning ratio

THE Grantham Park Primary School (GPPS) first boys rugby team returned from a pre-season tour with a 50% winning ratio.

The U13A side, coached by Kobus Wernich, left for Glencoe on Sunday, 26 March and returned on Wednesday, 29 March after playing two matches.

GPPS got their tour off to a winning start on Monday, when they beat Utrecht Primary School 15-12 in a cliff-hanger match.

Their Tuesday game against Newcastle based school Arbor Park Primary School had a reverse result, after the local lads went down 46-29 to a stronger outfit.

‘I have an exciting squad this year with a handful of provincial players in my set-up, which benefits my game plan and goals for the season. But we have a lot of work to do before the first local game,’ said Wernich.

GPPS will take on Veldenvlei Primary School (away) in their first local game of the season at the beginning of the second term.
