Pro-albino crusader walking to end albino killings and racism

The 43-year-old eMadwaleni Reserve resident will be walking 180km from Mbazwane to eManguzi

ANTI-RAPE activist Jan Mabuyakhulu is adding his weight behind the fight against albino killings as well putting an end to racism.

The 43-year-old eMadwaleni Reserve resident will be walking 180km from Mbazwane to eManguzi to dispel myths associated with people living with albinism while supporting Anti-Racism Week from 14 to 21 March.

Hitting the road since 2013, he has been creating awareness against rape and abuse of women and children after two of his friends’ young daughters were raped and killed in Jozini.

Mabuyakhulu now champions four annual awareness walks in March, June, August and November.

‘I am encouraging the public to support these campaigns and help put a stop to the deaths of our innocent albino citizens.

‘Our communities must protect people living with albinism, they are human beings just like us.

‘The walk commences this Wednesday and also coincides with Anti-Racism Week that culminates on Human Rights Day (21 March), which is also marked globally as the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

‘I have set down two weeks to complete this walk and community members are welcome to join me along the way.

‘During the walk I will be stopping at schools and shopping centres, ending off the walk in eManguzi with a community event.

‘I am inviting non profit organisations and community groups to support these campaigns and make a difference in society, ‘ said Mabuyakhulu.

Anyone interested in supporting the campaign can contact Jan on 079 4370138.
