After a successful run last year, the King Cetshwayo Theatrical Society will be hosting auditions for the popular theatre show, Death of the Emperor Shaka. a play written and produced by Zululand Observer journalist, Wellington Makwakwa.
Being a journalist in the region, especially covering entertainment events, Makwakwa and director Mthandeni Mbambo saw a gap in the industry; hence the Death of the Emperor Shaka concept was born
It is the story of events surrounding the death of King Shaka of AmaZulu.
It mostly highlights the vulnerable side of the King while also showcasing what his mother’s love meant to him, how her death affected him and his thoughts and behaviour.
This piece aim to celebrate our heritage and to ensure history remains intact and is celebrated in years to come.
eSikhaleni auditions
Auditions are taking place at Umfolozi TVET College in eSikhaleni on Saturday from 9am to 1pm.
Interested actors, musicians and dancers can prepare their work relating to these Zulu characters.
