New restaurant to open doors in March

Spur Empangeni will be relocating to it's new premises at 5 Ways Mall soon

THE ZO can confirm that the Spur Steak Ranch will be relocating from 37 Maxwell Street to the 5 Ways Mall.

Franchise owner Gert Nel said the new store will be bigger and more modern.

‘Our current restaurant is some 35 years old. The new restaurant will be bigger with 326 seats and have more modern equipment.

‘The entire restaurant is 526 square metres in size, with a 180 square metre kiddies play area, which includes inside and outside play areas.

‘We will have 102 new parking bays, which will be at the main entrance just off Higgs Road,’ said Nel.

He added that they chose to rather use Higgs Road as the main entrance so as to not create congestion on Rex Henderson.

‘A state-of-the-art extraction system with an abundance of kitchen space, two times bigger than that of the current Spur, will allow for easier movement for waitresses as well as quicker service.’

Nel said they hope to open between the last week in February and the first week in March.

Meanwhile a spokesperson for the 5 Ways Development confirmed verbally on Monday that there will not be a Woolworths store opening on the premises.

Woolworths Customer Service Consultant Akhona Motgatle did however note that the franchise is exploring the possibility of another store in Empangeni.

‘Our department have confirmed that they are investigating the possibility of opening a second Woolworths in Empangeni, but that is all the information that we can provide at this point in time,’ she said.
