• The Proteas secured the five match ODI series 4-0, after beating Sri Lanka by 40 runs at Newlands yesterday.

• New Zealand secured the three match ODI series 2-0 against Australia, after claiming a 24 run victory in Hamilton on Sunday.

• Protea women beat Bangladesh 4-1 in five match ODI series.

Golf

• Spanish golfer Sergio Garcia claimed the Dubai Dessert Classic after shooting rounds of 65, 67, 68 and 69.

Rugby

• Blitzbokke claimed Sydney Sevens title after beating England 29-14 in the Cup final played on Sunday.

• Blitzbokke top Sevens Series log after winning the Dubai, Wellington and Sydney sevens tournaments, and ending second in Cape Town.

• Defending Six Nations champions England got their title defence off with a narrow 19-16 win over France at Twickenham on Saturday. Wales thumped Italy 33-7 and Scotland edged Ireland 27-22.

Soccer

• Cameroon were crowned 2017 Africa Cup of Nations champions after beating Egypt 2-1 at the Stade de l’Amitie in Libreville, Gabon on Sunday.

• Chelsea remain top of English Premier League log by nine points after beating third placed Arsenal 3-1 on Saturday.

• Real Madrid remain top of La Liga log by one point after their match against Celta Vigo got postponed.

Surfski

• South Africa’s Hank McGregor won the men’s long course section at the fifth round of the Euro Steel Surfski Challenge in 39.08, with Zululand’s Bridgitte Hartley claiming second spot in the women’s section in 45.13.

Tennis

• South Africa beat Estonia 4-1 to advance to the second round of the Davis Cup.
