IT’S a new year and we are ready to welcome new fashion trends.
To ensure you look your best for the new season and still keep up with the current fashion trends,
here is the list of items which must remain in your cupboard and those which deserve the boot.
The IN trends
Sneakers: Because of their versatility, sneakers will continue to be extremely popular this year. This is one item you can’t have too many of, and they also come in different shapes and can be rocked at any function. Glitter, leopard and satin updates to sneakers effortlessly dress up an outfit and give you a reason to buy multiple pairs.
Striped clothing: We have seen the trend for two to three seasons and it seems it will continue this year. According to fashion director Roopal Patel, black and white stripes will continue to turn heads.
Painterly prints: They are an artistically inspired theme across the runways. Whether directly inspired by a particular artist’s work, painterly prints, or patterns, strong art references will be here to stay in 2017.
Mules: One shoe trend we see really taking over in 2017 is the mule. Whether flat, low block-heel, heeled, sneaker mules or espadrille mules – these shoes were big in 2016 and they will be even bigger for 2017. They come in all fabrics and colours such as velvet, satin, canvas, and embroidery.
Toss these OUT
Corsets: These had such a huge moment last year, but there is little hope designers will continue with them into 2017. Chuck them out.
Skinny jeans with stretch: A huge change is coming in the denim world. Skinnies have reigned supreme for a long time, but it is anticipated that a shift toward contrast denim styles in vintage shapes will take place.
Four to five inches heels: This is a trend in rapid decline. Women nowadays are way more focused on comfort and practicality. They value investing in shoes which are both stylish and comfortable enough to walk or commute in. These heels don’t really fit anymore.
White sneakers: We are already starting to see that clean classic sneakers are not as exciting anymore. It’s now about sneakers that are embellished or have something like logos or designs on them.
