The tournament which started in Richards Bay, has now become one of the biggest junior development programmes in the country and a recognised brand by key players within the South African soccer fraternity.

All areas in the North Coast region held their respective town competitions throughout the year, with SAFA having the opportunity to select the best players from these events to represent the BuildIt stores and the Local Football Associations (LFA) at Sunday’s Zonal final.

This event will provide players with a platform for Amazulu FC to scout local and exceptional talent.

Last year at the Zonal finals held in Richards Bay, Mtubatuba’s Khona Ntuli was identified as a player with exceptional talent and was drafted into the Amazulu FC Youth Development structures.

He was awarded a full bursary at Glenwood High School.

BuildIt national PRO and sponsorship manager Zami Mthimkhulu said, ‘It gives the BuildIt group and our retailers great pleasure to once again, invest in the passion of my people, that is soccer. The success of any business organisation could not be achieved alone, but rather through the support of the local community.

BuildIt’s Jackie Pillay is proud of giving players the chance to showcase their talents and head towards greater things in the game

‘Our brand has over the years achieved great success whilst trading in extremely competitive environments. The only way that we can show our thanks for their support is by ensuring that our future stars have a platform to showcase their skills in a competition of this nature.’

Sixteen teams in areas ranging from Gingindlovu to Piet Retief will be competing on the day, following a round robin format before heading into play-offs.

Teams will play 10 minute one-way games, with action scheduled to get underway from 8am.
