ESHOWE detectives are asking for anyone who can assist in the investigation of murdered 10-year-old Alwande Mkhize, to come forward.
Mkhize’s body was found in the Mabhudle area, Kwakhoza outside eShowe on Sunday.
The boy was at home with his a caretaker and his two-year-old brother while his mother, Lungile Mkhize, went to church.
When she returned home, she enquired about Alwande as she did not see the boy.
On searching inside and outside the house, she found the boy’s lifeless body on a path not far from the house.
He had a cut in his throat and two stab wounds in his stomach.
According to the caretaker she had fed the children and they had gone to play in the yard.
She said she had not seen or heard anything unusual.
The boy’s brother told his mother someone had asked for water while they were playing outside and Alwande had gone to give the person water.
The Mkhize family is in shock, especially as they do not know what the motive for this gruesome killing could be.
