Shwashweni make it two out of two

Teams were split into two pools and completed a round robin format

SHWASHWENI Primary School successfully defended their Umbiya Ward Schools Champions title when beating Mendu Primary 3-0 in a one-way final played at the Enhlabonsini Stadium recently.

The school from the KwaMthethwa Reserve had a solid road to success, beating Soya Primary 2-0 and Luhlanga Primary 3-1 on penalties after a 1-1 draw to book their spot in the 2016 final.

The Mthethwa Tribal Authority in the uMfolozi Municipality hosted the tournament, which saw the following primary schools competing: Mcuthungo, Mvamanzi, Mendu, Luhlanga, Ocilwane, Soya and Shwashweni.

Teams were split into two pools and completed a round robin format, with the top two sides going through to the finals.

‘We are very happy with our performance, the boys played exceptional football and we are proud of successfully defending our title,’ said Shwashweni team coach Thembinkosi Gwala.
