THE Grantleigh Schools U15 boys rugby team pulled one over Richards Bay High School (RBHS) at the Felixton College sevens rugby tournament on Friday, when they narrowly beat their counterparts 12-5 in a humdinger of a final.
This was the second time within two weeks that these two sides met in a tournament final, with RBHS beating Grantleigh 12-10 the week before at the Richards Bay Christian School sevens tournament.
The U15 age group saw two pools competing in a round robin format with the top two sides qualifying for the semi-finals.
The U18s played a round robin format, collecting 3 points for a win, 2 for a draw and 1 for losing with seven points or less, with the top of the log team claiming the title.
The U18 title had to be shared between Felixton College and RBHS, after both sides finished on 11 points and drawing 19-19 in their round robin game.
RBCS sevens tournament winners Grantleigh finished third on 7 points, followed by RBCS on 4 points and John Ross College on 3 points.
The U15 age group saw Grantleigh beating Ashton College 17-0 and RBCS 43-0 to top their pool on six points, with RBHS beating Felixton College 24-0 and Mandini 12-0 to top their pool.
Mandini finished third on the day after beating RBCS 24-7 in the third place play-off.
The sevens season has now come to an end for the local schools as they close for holiday on Friday, 30 September.
