Public schools admission applications now open

Admissions underway at local schools

ADMISSIONS for the 2017 academic year have opened for KZN public schools.

Parents can visit the nearest school where they reside or work to collect application forms, which must be returned to the school before 31 October.

The KZN Department of Education has launched a learner admission campaign to ensure the admission of pupils goes off smoothly and teaching and learning can begin on the first day of school in 2017.

Principals must ensure that their schools comply with the national and provincial policies when they develop their own admission policies.

The campaign also serves as a planning tool for the department, school governing bodies and school management teams to assist schools in identifying areas of need and resources to be acquired before the start of the new academic year, such as additional teachers, text books and furniture.

The following documents are required to register pupils at a public school:
• Birth Certificate
• Immunisation card
• Transfer card or last school report card for pupils who have been to school
• Study permit or proof of temporary or permanent residence for non-South African pupils.
