Elephant expedition on the move

Elephant Ignite Expedition heads north after visiting Zululand elephants

THE Elephant Ignite Expedition stopped over at the Space for Elephants Foundation before spending World Elephant Day on Friday in the Tembe Elephant Park.

The 10 women, who are travelling 10 000km through 10 countries, were joined by Digs Pascoe who led the expedition to the Royal Swazi Big Five Reserve in Swaziland and then the White Elephant Safari Lodge and Bush Camp.

They then observed the work of the Space for Elephants project on the banks of the Pongolapoort Dam, where they also enjoyed lunch.

But there was no rest for the travellers as they headed off to Tembe for the night and a day trip to track the great tuskers of Africa.

They left KZN on Friday, trekking through Mozambique and Mpumalanga before heading north, with Kenya as the final destination.
