Man slits throat in front of family
The family said they were still in disbelief over what happened
THE homecoming celebration for a relative turned into a ghastly horror scene in Mtubatuba on Wednesday.
An hour after Welcome Bhekizenzo Donda (31) of Madwaleni returned home, the festivity ended abruptly when he slit his throat open with a bush knife in front of his grandmother.
According to his uncle, Mbongeni Mkhwanazi, while they were rejoicing over his return, Donda started acting strangely.
‘We were so happy to have my nephew back home but soon after supper he started going in and out of the house as well as the family kraal,’ said Mkhwanazi.
The uncle said when they questioned his strange behaviour, he had a quarrel with his siblings and chased them out of the house.
‘We got worried and made sure all weapons were out of reach because he has a history of mental illness.’
