Zululand’s top businesswomen honoured

This year, the award nominees and winners exhibited the value of the entrepreneurial spirit

INSPIRING businesswomen received nods of acknowledgment from their peers at the annual Regional Businesswoman Achiever Awards function held in Empangeni last week.

Hosted by the Businesswomen’s Association (BWA) at the Umfolozi Casino Resort, the awards honoured established entrepreneurs, small business owners and professionals in corporate and government who have excelled and meaningfully impacted their respective industries.

Judging criteria also considered the promotion of opportunities to support, connect and grow women in business through lobbying, mentoring, networking, forming strategic alliances and development initiatives.

‘This year the award nominees and winners exhibited the values of the entrepreneurial spirit, with exceptional women following their passions winning each of the three categories,’ said BWA Zululand Branch Administrator, Chantal McNally.

Judith Langa of Umvuzo Feasts, Kim van der Merwe who founded the Dance Academy and Phumzille Lembede of Emvelo Enviromental Consultants were selected as finalists in the Emerging Entrepreneur category, while Motselisi Mosiana from Caredoc Radiology Centre and Andile Mtshali of Kloppers Inc were selected in the professional category.

Corporate finalists included Sales Manager for Honda at Tangawize Motors, Jo-Ann Robinson, and Transnet Multi-purpose Terminal Manager, Panaso Ndlela.

Overall Phumzile Lembede, Andile Mtshali and Panaso Ndlela were announced as this year’s winners in their respective categories.
