Armed gang robs Bay family

The suspects ransacked the house and took jewellery, a safe, the house keys and gate remotes and fled in the family's silver Mercedes luxury vehicle.

A BRACKENHAM family was last week held-up at gunpoint and robbed of their household belongings and a luxury vehicle.

According to the Brackenham Community Crime Watch (BCCW), four armed men stormed the house in Alpine Walk street at about 8pm.

The suspects ransacked the house and took jewellery, a safe, the house keys and gate remotes and fled in the family’s silver Mercedes luxury vehicle.

BCCW Chairperson, Ray Govender said the family sent a message for help on the BCCW WhatsApp group chat and members were quick on the scene to assist.

‘We are appealing to residents to be on alert at all times as the criminals are targeting houses earlier in the evenings.

‘We believe they are striking before our night patrols get underway, which is from 10pm.

‘Last week, we were able to foil several burglaries with information received from residents about suspicious activity in their streets.

‘All our streets in Brackenham must have their own neighbourhood watches and residents must keep in contact via their group chats,’ said Govender.
