Speaking at the opening function, Ward 26 Councillor AS Dawood said the library has been a longtime dream of residents since the 1990s.

‘Over the years we were told Aquadene was too small to warrant a library and children were forced to use a dangerous footpath to access the Brackenham library.

‘We are grateful to the municipality who shared our community’s vision for a library and helped us to see it materialise,’ said Dawood.

Celebrating with the community at the grand opening, City Mayor Mduduzi Mhlongo said education remains the most powerful tool to change the world.

‘We are excited to brings these tools (books) to Aquadene and encourage the residents to protect and utilise this facility.
