Poacher bags 10 year sentence

A POACHER who was arrested for entering the Mkhuze Game Reserve section of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park has been sent to jail for an effective 10 years.
The man from Nongoma, Musa Sibiya (36) was convicted by Magistrate Norman Nkosi in the Pongola Regional Court.

During the trial, evidence was led that Sibiya and an unknown companion, who managed to evade capture, had unlawfully entered the reserve on 18 October 2015.

He was sentenced for the unlawful possession of a hunting rifle and nine live rounds of ammunition.
Sibiya was also sentenced to two years on a charge of trespassing.
The two sentences will run concurrently.
