Mom uses iPhone to save baby’s life

Voice activated search function helps mom call ambulance

AN Australian mom is breathing a little easier after she used Siri on her iPhone to save her one-year-old child’s life.
Stacey Gleeson from Cairns used the voice activated search tool to call an ambulance when she realised her daughter had stopped breathing.
As she ran into the room where her child Giana was sleeping, she dropped her phone as she hit the light switch.
While frantically conducting CPR, she shouted at the handset to activate Siri, asking it to call emergency services on speakerphone.
Gleeson told the media she felt it was this function, which she used to call her husband who is in the Navy, that saved her daughter’s life.
According to media reports little Giana was battling a chest infection and bronchitis, but was breathing again when paramedics arrived.
Doctors told Gleeson there was no lasting damage but every second had been vital.
The incident occurred in March, the story going viral after she contacted Apple to say thank you.
‘As cheesy as it sounds I wanted to say thank you,’ she was quoted as saying.
‘I’ve only had the phone since the start of the year.
‘I had played around with Siri, I thought it was a fun feature. Now I have that feature turned on all the time and it will never be turned off again.’
