Coal terminal to the rescue

RBCT donates school shoes, two jojo tanks and chunky cheque to aid schools and charities

THOUSANDS of children and disadvantaged community members will benefit from several contributions made last week by the Richards Bay Coal Terminal.
RBCT not only handed over 342 pairs of school shoes to Eniwe Primary School, but also a whopping R350 000 cheque to Amangwe Village and two Jojo tanks to the Arboretum and Enhlanzini Primary schools.
On behalf of Eniwe, non-profit organisation Faith, Hope and Love (FHL) thanked the terminal for showing compassion to the needs of the young learners.
RBCT Organisational Development and Corporate Affairs Manager, Nontuthuko Mgabhi, stated ‘a pair of shoes should never stand in the way of a child’s future’.
The hefty cash donation made to Amangwe will assist the charity with its many community development projects.
‘We hope these funds will close the many loopholes for Amangwe and will be used in numerous projects including their home-based care centre, self-help groups, HIV and AIDS awareness initiatives and their early childhood development centre, to name only a few,’ said RBCT Human Resources General Mananger, Judith Nzimande.
‘We thank Erna Steynberg (Amangwe manager) for the wonderful work being done in the surrounding communities.
‘We are proud to have a partnership with an organisation that makes a difference in the lives of so many people RBCT cannot always directly reach.’

Tanks of thanks

On Tuesday, RBCT handed over Jojo tanks to two of the schools that won the Walk for Water competition.
Teachers and learners at Arboretum and Enhlanzini were overjoyed.
‘The City of uMhlathuze is badly affected by the drought and every citizen needs to take accountability for saving water,’ said Arboretum Primary principal Kobus Buitendach.
‘We applaud RBCT for the initiatives taken towards saving water.’
Enhlanzini Primary’s governing body echoed their heartfelt thanks to RBCT for giving the ‘school hope in donating a life-saving gift’.
