Opportunity in town for Portuguese community

Portuguese consular services made available in the Bay

THE Portuguese community resident in Zululand will have a unique opportunity tomorrow (Friday) to have all their documentation needs met thanks to the presence of a delegation from the Portuguese consulate.

This follows an exploratory visit to Richards Bay in February by a team led by the Consul General of Portugal in Johannesburg, Dr Luisa Fragosa.

She will once again be at the fore when the delegation makes its ‘mobile office’ available at the Protea Waterfront Hotel between 8am and 5pm on Friday.

Making use of sophisticated IT equipment, including fingerprinting and camera capability, all the consulate services will be made accessible to those of Portuguese nationality or origin.

This includes passport applications, identity documents, visas, and child and marriage registrations.

In addition, the visit aims to make contact with the broader Portuguese community in the region, encouraging them to get together for important national, religious and cultural events.

Contact can be made with the consulate via the email elias.sousa@mne.pt

The group will again visit Richards Bay on 18 November.
