THE last day of the 14th Phobane Bonanza fishing competition at Goedetrouw Dam was blown out as the wind picked up, sending many fishermen for cover.
eShowe Social Fishing Club chairman Steve Wiltshire thanked all their sponsors, especially the main sponsors, Liquorland eShowe and Pick n Pay eShowe.
Although the number of fish caught was down on previous years, the entry of 178 anglers was encouraging.
A total of 44 bass were weighed in with an average weight of 2.017kg and 39 barbel averaging 2.74kg.
The big prize of R10 000 sponsored by Liquorland eShowe for the largest bass was won by Paul Pereira.
Dylan Jones, a junior angler, beat all in the barbel section when he walked off with the R5 000 cheque sponsored by Pick n Pay eShowe.
