Khulekani bags five medals

Khulekani snatched four bronze and one silver medal for his efforts, improving on his performance of last year when he only managed two medals.

DISABLED swimmer Khulekani Sikhosana’s hard training and determination payed off when the Sonja Swim School star returned home with five medals from the SA Physically Disabled Championships held in Bloemfontein recently.

Khulekani snatched four bronze and one silver medal for his efforts, improving on his performance of last year when he only managed two medals.

He achieved podium finishes in the 200m freestyle, 100m butterfly, 100m freestyle, 50m freestyle and 50m breaststroke events.

‘I am very proud of Khulekani and what he has achieved over the past two seasons. I would like to thank the Fish Eagles Swimming Club for making it possible for Khulekani to go to Bloemfontein by sponsoring him,’ said coach Sonja van Ryswyk.

Khulekani is currently putting in more hard yards ahead of the senior national championships which will be held in Durban from 10 to 17 April.

This is the second time that he has qualified for this championship.

Last year he brought three medals home.

‘We are training hard and looking forward to the challenge ahead. As a club we wish him all the best of luck and hope that he does well,’ said Van Ryswyk.
