De Beer in peak condition

Martin de Beer looks to get back onto a winning streak

WITH the memory of his first professional loss still fresh in the back of his mind, local cage fighter Martin de Beer has put in a lot of extra work into his preparations ahead of his bantamweight fight against Nelspruit’s Lourens Botes at EFC 47 on Saturday, 5 March at Carnival City in Johannesburg.

De Beer has been training with an altitude mask to condition himself to the thinner air inland, and has also been focusing on his ground work.

The 25-year-old Garage Boys fighter has three professional wins under his belt, with his loss coming from a TKO.

‘Martin has been training hard and is in peak physical condition. He is upset with his loss and is looking to redeem himself,’ said coach Tienie de Beer.

Botes, who fights with Rio Grappling Lowveld, has three wins and four losses to his name.

The 36-year-old has lost twice on points decisions and twice on TKO/KO.
